We were delighted to hear new music from Los Angeles duo Girlpool last month (see List Pick 'Where You Sink'). Now they've announced their third album What Chaos Is Imaginary and treated us to another stunning taste of it. 'Hire' is a bittersweet guitar-driven anthem. Channelling the lilting chord structure of The Beatles' seminal 'Blackbird', 'Hire' opens with gently-picked intertwined guitar parts before Cleo Tucker's uplifting kick in. Swelling towards a glorious dual vocal break, 'Hire' dives headfirst into a euphoric chorus, elevated by carefree guitar strums and steady drums that build towards the track's cathartic climax. What Chaos Is Imaginary will arrive via Anti- on the 1st of February. -Holly Mullineaux
